HEALING THE WOUNDED YOGI

A Weekend Workshop

with Andrew Mournehis & Hugh Lee

Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February, 2018
10am – 5pm

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”
~C.G. Jung

There is a common misconception in the yoga community that we must always focus on the light.  That to acknowledge our wounds is ‘negative’ and that as yogis, we must present ourselves as Perfect, Aligned and with our ‘S%*t Together’ in order to be respected.

How can you heal what you can’t acknowledge?

Two devoted yoga teachers and highly experienced facilitators.
Many healing modalities.
Over 35 years of combined experience.
5000 years of ancient wisdom to be shared.
Come heal the Wounded Yogi!

Yoga Practitioners that come to the mat, come for a variety of reasons…many come to get fit, feel good and calm their minds…others to have some space to Be …a chance to have space for their Soul.  Yet others come for deeper exploration so that they can Heal, and this healing may take many forms.

For the past 20 years, both Andrew Mournehis and Hugh Lee have worked intimately with the healing benefits of yoga and the recovery and renewal it brings. They hold complete trust and faith in its power, potency and potential, to heal not only the body, but also mental afflictions, traumas, addictions, deep emotional wounds and places that we have difficulty accessing in everyday life. Yoga brings to the surface these areas that are in need of our Love and Attention and provides extraordinary keys and gifts for unlocking the greatest potential within us all to be co creators of our own Healing.

Through a multitude of different healing practices that have been drawn from over 20 years experience in the healing arts including Yoga, Yin, Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, Transpersonal Counselling, Art therapy and Dance Movement therapy, we will dive deep into our bodies, through the layers of our minds and into the more subtle layers of our Etheric fields. Through the five koshas, we can access one of the greatest healing resources within, far greater than any healing resource on the planet.

Come share in this Deep Exploration of the Healing Powers Of Yoga and not only offer yourself this gift of Love, but then share it with your students, peers and Spiritual Yoga Family.

A Priceless gift to share and heal our wounds together with our Yoga Sangha (Heart centred Community).

The workshop will be a blend of:
– Morning Yang practice to prepare the body and mind for two full days of healing
– Afternoon Yin practice focusing on balancing, healing and nourishment meridians/organs through Chinese Medicine
– Mindfulness Practice for self awareness training
– Interactive, creative, hands-on art therapy
– The Ancient Life wisdom of Ayurveda working with each students Dosha type
– Transpersonal techniques for effective healing facilitation

Intention and Theme is:
– to acknowledge and Be present to our wounds
– to bring acceptance to what has been
– to understand the root causes of our wounds
– to explore triggers and reactivity
– utilise Yogic Practices, Art therapy and Transpersonal Counselling Techniques to learn new methods and tools that will become our “Medicine” that we can then use each day to help “treat our wounds”.
– share and inspire each other with new ideas and inspirations of different “medicines” and resources available to us in our lives
–  if re-triggered, ways to deal with wounds that become raw and open again, and ways to continue the healing journey and stay with the process.

Students will come away with many different healing medicines and tools to apply to the wounds both in the present and the future.

About Yoga Instructors and Facilitators

Andrew Mournehis started his career as an Optometrist looking through the “Windows of the Soul”, before giving it all up to dance and choreograph in London.  This lead to an incredible opportunity to choreograph Tina Turner’s 1996 ‘Wildest Dreams’ world tour.  At the peak of his career, a knee injury and visa expiry forced him to return to Australia, where he became extremely unwell and sought out a healing path.  He turned to Yoga to heal his heart and his body. He immediately fell in Love with the practice, studied vigilantly, and in 1999 began teaching yoga to packed classes.

Andrew went on to study Transpersonal Counselling, graduating from the Phoenix Institute of Australia in 2001.  He had a very clear vision that his gifts and passions were best directed in the power of group, mythology and the potent healing energy that is exchanged in each other’s stories, both personal and Universal. Being an already well respected and established yoga teacher, he spent the next decade combining his love of Yoga with his passion for healing Transpersonal work to create Transformative spaces for his students and participants to heal and become more whole.

Coming from a diverse and eclectic Yoga background, Andrew teaches a combination of Hatha, Bhakti and Tantra Yoga. His Creative, Joyful and Heart-filled teaching strengthens the body, soothes and clears the mind, whilst enlivening and enriching the Spirit through both Postural and Universal Alignment. His unique teaching style is imbued with Heart and Soul, rich in Tantric Philosophy and his classes are filled with Inspiration, Storytelling, Mantra and the Spirit of the Divine.

Andrew has spent almost 20 years facilitating many healing groups, workshops, intensives and retreats both nationally and internationally working with the healing potential of Yoga, Movement, Tantra, Mythology, and Transpersonal Modalities. He brings to his work over 16 years of experience in Transpersonal Counselling and Art Therapy Techniques, 19 years of Yoga Teaching and over 25 Years experience in the Creative Arts Fields.

His qualifications include:
Diploma Of Health in Yoga (CAE)
Senior Level 3 Certified Yoga Instructor With The Yoga Teachers Association (YTA)
Part Of The Teaching Faculty and Assessment Co-coordinator for Academy of Yoga Learning (Formerly known as The Advanced Diploma Of Yoga Teacher Training CAE) (2003 – 2017)
Lecturer at the Phoenix institute of Victoria (2010 – 2015)
Diploma of Transpersonal Counselling (Ikon Institute Of Victoria)

Andrew is also Creative director of Divinegrace Yoga

Hugh Lee is an experienced Yoga Teacher, a graduate of the Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching founded by Leigh Blashki, Melbourne. He began teaching in 2008, assisting and co-teaching with Andrew on Yoga retreats in India, Bali and Australia.  He has trained in Yin Yoga with Paul and Suzee Grilley and with Sarah Powers’ “Insight Yoga” Yin Teacher Training.

Hugh came to Yoga and Meditation as tools for healing after years of suffering from depression and anxiety, and has found Yoga to be immensely nourishing and healing mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Hugh teaches Yin Yoga and Meditation classes at various Yoga studios in Melbourne, and facilitates Yin workshops, retreats and Yin Yoga teacher trainings throughout the year. Hugh’s Yin Yoga classes focus on Chinese Medicine by gently stimulating the fascia and joints in the body in long held poses, which allows the free-flow of chi through the meridians (energy channels) helping to replenish, nourish and provide healing to our organs for physical and emotional balance. Hugh blends Mindfulness Meditation during the Yin poses as a way to practice non-judgmental self awareness whilst being in the present moment.
